“God, where are you?”
“God why can’t you just come down here and fix all of this?”
“God we need you now more than ever.”
These are just a few of the phrases I’ve seen while scrolling through my news feed in the past few months. I’m sure you’ve found yourself echoing these sentiments lately too. Sure, it’s easy for us to trust that God is near when things are going fine, but what happens in the midst of uncertainty? God’s word has a lot to say about it. I’m reminded of Moses and the Israelites just before they reached the promised land.
If you’re not familiar with the story, Moses had been journeying with the Israelites for years and had just let them know that he wouldn’t be entering the promised land with them. The Israelites were terrified of what was up ahead and didn’t know how they were going to survive without Moses. In the midst of their uncertainty, God reminded them that He would never leave them nor forsake them and that He would be with them every step of the way.
I want you to be encouraged in this too. Just as God was with the Israelites on their way to the promised land, He is with you. As you go throughout your week, cling tightly to this verse:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 English Standard Version.
